Please drop by all questions to this journal, and it will be added to the list.

BEFORE reading this, please read the Rules post. Any questions you may have, may already have been addressed there.

Prior to Enrolling your character.

So is this like Monster High?
NO. To quote the front page, "We are not affiliated with Monster High the toyline by Mattel in ANY SHAPE OR FORM. Please do not send us Monster High OCs, they won't be accepted."

Can I submit more than one character?
Yes, however, you are allowed up to a 12 student limit to avoid negligence of other characters. You may have up to three staff positions and there is no limit to ghosts or other creatures that are not part of the student body or faculty.

Can I try to join without a character?
Nope. You must make a character (as well as read everything throughly) in order to join. A blank application will be declined on the spot.

Can I alter the uniform?
No. Please refer here for the uniform and dress code.

Can you add ______ to the uniform options?
No. The uniform already has enough options and we're not adding more. There are plenty of ways to make your character look unique and still be within uniform guidelines.

What's the dress code involving make up?
While students are allowed make up, it has to be tame. Nothing wild, unless your character wants to be targeted by Lady Misery.

What is the age limit for students?
13-19 depending on birthdays, if they started school early/late, got held back and such. Sometimes we do get characters that are hundreds of years old but look like a teenager due to their species.

Does it have to be drawn in Danny Phantom or any other specific style?
No. This club was originally part of the DP universe but recently we decided to convert it to its own original universe. You might see some members still drawing their characters in DP style since they very first drawn like that, but that's just fine. You can use your own style if you'd like.

Can I set up my character with an existing character?
Only if it is okay with the creator. We don't want people going around to member's characters and calling 'dibs' on single characters.

Can my character be a mythical creature?
Yes, however, keep in mind that there are already several varieties of mythical creatures not only attending the school as students, but lurking around the school and its grounds; both malevolent and benevolent. Please read this journal for more details."

Can my character have a mental disability or disorder?
Sure! But we are going to require you to do research, research, and more research. Real world conditions are a tricky thing, and it's very easy to offend people if you get something wrong! If we feel like you're not doing something accurately, we will ask you to change it before your character is accepted.

How do I submit my character?
If you are a current member, click contribute art on the MiseryHigh profile page. If you are not a member and are looking to apply, please refer to HERE for the steps regarding joining.

I can't draw! How can I create a character?
We understand that not everyone is talented with a pencil. You may ask a friend to draw your character for you and then submit it to us. If for some reason you can't draw and can't get a hold of a friend to draw for you...do you have a Sims game or a game where you can customize characters? Fret not! Simply create the character, screenshot them and paste it on the application!

Why do I have to change my character?
We require all characters (admins too!) to go through a screening process before being submitted. This way, all characters in the groups will have personalities and backstories that make sense, and hopefully we'll avoid things like the dreaded Mary Sue. We realize that it's your character and that you may be attached to certain traits, but it is our group, and we have certain standards. If you truly want to submit your character as is, you're free to submit them to other clubs.

What if I don't have a digital art program?
You may just submit a full body picture of your character, along with their bio and the information found on the application. You just have to post all of that in the artist's comments.

Do I need to give my student an ID card?
Nope! The ID cards aren't required for students. They're more for fun and so we can have something similar to real schools.

Where do I get an ID number for my student's ID card?
Either note JaxxyLupei or comment on the ID itself, and you'll be assigned one.

Can I have a link to ____?
Most links are provided within the group's main page and the journals. If you cannot find it, we'll be more than happy to help you out.

Once you are accepted into Misery High

Why is the chatroom not letting me in?
That's because the administrators haven't added your username in the chatroom. Just alert the founder, co-founder or a contributor of this (or write it on the Misery High profile comments) and someone will add your name, allowing you in. This is because the chatroom is on private and only members of Misery High are allowed in.

What's an event?
An event is a scheduled roleplay intended to include the entire group, or at least a large portion of it, in a roleplay based around a topic or activity. Eg, Prom, a field trip, anniversary, ghost attack. It's encouraged you participate in the larger roleplays as well as smaller ones as it is a great way to meet fellow group members and have fun

We have homework? Is it mandatory?
Homework serves as a way to encourage participation in the group. Once every few months, we'll give you an assignment that you can complete in the form of a picture, a story, or anything. The time to complete the assignment is usually 2-3 months long so you don't have to worry about rushing it in. If you complete that assignment, you'll get a better grade. More explanation is given here.

Can I draw someone's character?
Of course! Though some may prefer if you ask to draw their character, a majority of the members love having their characters drawn by other group members. If could be a scene from a roleplay or just an appreciation picture of someone's character. However, make sure you respect the creator and character while doing this. No one wants their character abused for the amusement of others. Unless you're into that.

What's an activity check?
An activity check is a journal that you must comment in with the accounts that you want to have remain members of the group. This journal will be up for a month. Accounts that don't comment in this journal by the end of the month will be removed from the group. Don't worry, you only need to comment on the journal in order to be considered an active member. If you would like to join again but were removed, you can send us a join request asking to do so and we'll allow it.

What are the monthly themes?
The monthly theme is similar to the homework, except it lasts for a shorter period of time and is just for fun. Journals will be posted with a theme like "relationships". People can submit drawings or stories related to that theme. At the end of the month, the person with the best entry (or whoever submits an entry if there's only one) will receive twenty points!

What folder do I submit to?
The folders all have descriptions for what they are but if you're still confused, just submit to featured. We'll put it in the folder we feel is appropriate.

How can I complain?
Just drop a note by the group and the founder, co founders and contributors will try and fix the problem as soon as possible, whether it be a broken link or a problem with a fellow member.

How can I leave the group?
We'd hate to see you go, but if you want to leave, go to the MiseryHigh profile page. Click on your username located towards the top left corner. (Not your username at the very top where your messages are displayed, the one located under the Misery high logo.) When you click this, you will see a few options, like submit deviation, submit favourite, etc. At the bottom should be "Leave Group." If you do intend to leave, please leave us a message telling us why. We're always trying to make the group better, and knowing why you want to leave may help us improve the group so you don't want to leave in the first place.

I'm too busy with real life for the club right now, can I leave temporarily?
By all means. We understand life can get in the way, and if you don't have time for Misery High for a little while, you are free to take temporary absence. There will not be any changes to your member status or characters. Just remember to explain your situation to us before you leave.

Roleplaying

How do I participate in the roleplays?
Easy. Just ask anyone via the chatroom, start a new topic in the

What are the roleplaying formats?
Before we start a roleplay, we ask if people want to do script or paragraph. Here's an example:
Script
Roxanne: *walks down the hallway, hears a noise behind her and turns* who's there?

Paragraph
Roxanne walked slowly down the dark hall. She was alone, and felt s bit nervous. A noise sounded behind her and she was startled by it. she turned and called out, "Who's there?"

How do I roleplay 'in order'?
Roleplays usually go in order, which is the order you will find the usernames are listed on the right side of the chat screen.

Will I get in trouble if I roleplay out of order?
There's no penalty if you accidentally skip someone. It happens to the best of us, even the admins! We just ask that you be careful around the keyboard if your response is ready. If you do it multiple times in one session, it might be a problem.

What happens if the chat goes down in the middle of a roleplay?
This happens on occasion, unfortunately. However, we do have a solution. We usually use Chatzy until the dA chatrooms are back in order.

Can my character be killed?
Indeed, yes. Once you're in Misery High, your character(s) run a risk of being killed  or even horribly injured in roleplays. To avoid this, simply do not participate in a roleplay where killing is present. However, the person doing the killing will need your permission. If your character is slaughtered, you may not bring them back, unless the circumstances stand differently (ie. time reset, Kill or Be Killed). You may bring them back as a ghost if you wish.

Can I kill another character?
Yes, if you have a character that can do so. However, you will need the other member's permission.

What is Kill or Be Killed?
This is a game we play when we're bored and in the mood to roleplay. Someone picks a character to kill, and another person picks a character to do the killing. Usually it's for fun and doesn't effect the characters' actual story lines. But on some occasions, it will indeed be a real kill.

What is the general rating for roleplays?
They range from PG to R, or even M. As mentioned earlier, your character runs a risk of being killed. These can range from a lighthearted "Disney death" to a bloody massacre. Sex is allowed as well, although we ask if you're in the main chat, censor it or take it to a different chatroom (MiseryHighAfterDark chat)

What is godmodding?
Basically, your character defies all logic, physics, the forces of nature and so on. Also taking advantage of other characters as well. Don't do it.

Can I use chatspeak?
No, because it gives us all headaches when we try to read it.

Hey, my character has this hobby that I forgot to mention in his/her application! Can I still have them do it anyway?
Preferably not. Make sure you double and triple-check that you have everything set for your character before you submit it. However, if your character gains a new hobby, feel free to roleplay them starting out.

I want to roleplay something with someone else but they don't want to. How do I make them roleplay with me?
You can't. If they're not comfortable with a roleplay with you, then you have to respect their wishes and leave them alone. Harassment will count as a strike against you.

I want to roleplay but I can't come into the chat very often!
If you can't come into the chat because of a busy life or bad internet connection, it isn't the end of the world. You can contact other members and ask them to roleplay via comments, notes, emails or IMing.

Misc. Information

What is the Misery High Wiki? Can I edit it?
The Misery High wiki is basically the online encyclopedia for Misery High, and yes it is indeed editable. You may create pages for your characters and come back to edit them when needed.

Can I join the group's forum?
Certainly! We welcome any and all MH members!

What are the Misery High tumblr blogs?
One is the main tumblr, where members can submit pictures and ideas, announcements and events. The second one is the headcanon tumblr, for members to post semi-true (or what they think is true) ideas about anything Misery high related. These ideas are usually for fun, however. Please don't take them seriously and don't force your headcanon on others.

Can I make a blog or deviantART account for my characters?
By all means you can make either or both, although we advise to use tumblr since creating and deleting a blog is much simpler than creating/deactivating a dA account. It's up to you, however.
