Addylynn sat at her desk with a pen in hand, thoughtfully tapping her chin as she stared intently at the prompt the teacher had passed out. It was her final writing assignment, meant to be a part of her final grade, and it was due soon. She knew she should have written it ages ago, but with the Second Kindred war on her back (she didn’t mean to start a war) and the council calling her every few days for updates on the meetings and court decisions to be made she just simply hadn’t had time. So now she sat and stared at the prompt, begging for something to pop into her head.

There was a moment of silence.

Bree waited outside the school with other students. The school after the announcement was a dreadful blur of activity and sensations, panicky students crying and calling their parents to please pick them up.

Zell walked out from behind the waterfall that overlooked the town of Misery Falls. The mist felt cool on his face. He enjoyed the sound of crunching snow as he walked the empty path.
